Mark Billingham is one of the UK’s most acclaimed and popular crime writers. His series of London-based novels featuring D.I. Tom Thorne has won him the Sherlock Award, the Theakston’s Crime Novel Of The Year Award and he has been nominated for five Crime Writer’s Association Daggers. Each book, from his debut Sleepyhead, to the most recent, Bloodline, has been a Sunday Times Top Ten bestseller, as was his acclaimed standalone thriller In The Dark. The next Tom Thorne novel – From The Dead – will be published in August, and the first of the films for television based on the novels will be broadcast in early 2010, starring the famous British actor David Morrissey as Tom Thorne.
Mark has also worked successfully as a stand-up UK’s comedian for more than fifteen years and still performs occasionally at some of the country’s foremost comedy clubs. As well as writing for the Sunday Times and the Independent, he is a frequent contributor to BBC TV and radio. He regularly reviews books and movies on BBC Radio 4’s Front Row and has recently presented a BBC Radio 4 documentary about Patricia Highsmith as well as a four part TV series about notorious murders for the History Channel.
Under the pseudonym Will Peterson, Mark also writes children’s books. Triskellion was the first in a trilogy of paranormal thrillers for older children. The second book in the series Triskellion 2: The Burning was published in 2009 and the final part of the trilogy, Triskellion 3: The Gathering was published in March 2010.
