Before assuming the position of Deputy Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority as per the resolution of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, in his capacity as Ruler of Dubai, Mohammed Al Murr served as the Chairman of Dubai Cultural Council from its establishment in January 2004 and until March 2008 when Dubai Cultural Council merged with Dubai Culture and Arts Authority.

Mohammed Al Murr was born in Dubai in 1955. He began his lifelong obsession with reading and writing at an early age. He wrote his early articles at school.

Editor- in-Chief of the Arabic daily Al-Bayan

  • Associated with the Middle East Bank in 1980's.
  • Headed the Scientific and Cultural Association from 1987 to 2001.

  • ‘Awraq Al-Ahad’, a weekly column in Al-Khaleej newspaper.
  • Hadeeth Al-Ethnain’, a weekly column in Al-Bayan newspaper.
  • ‘Muntasaf Al-Osbou’, a weekly column in Al-Reyada Wa Al-Shabab magazine.

He has delivered a number of lectures.

Collector of calligraphy and interested in philately (postal history of the UAE and Sultanate of Oman).
