Oliver Jeffers burst onto the publishing scene in 2004 with his first picture book for children, How to Catch a Star. A graduate of the University of Ulster in 2001, he has since exhibited his paintings around the world.

His work has won several high-profile awards, including the Nestle Children's Book Prize Gold Award 2005 and the Blue Peter Book of the Year for Lost and Found (2005), which was also broadcast as an animation on the UK’s Channel 4 on Christmas Eve 2008. As well as working on children's picture books, he also does freelance illustrations for internationally recognised brands such as Starbucks.

His other books include The Incredible Book-Eating Boy (2006) shortlisted for the W.H. Smith Children’s Book of the Year award and the Independent Booksellers’ Book of the Year award, and The Way Back Home (2007), shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal and the Dublin Airport Authority Irish Children’s Book of the Year Award.

His most recent work, The Great Paper Caper (2008), was winner of the Bisto Book of the Year Award and shortlisted for the Roald Dahl Funny Prize. His books have been translated into several languages, including Spanish and German. The Heart and the Bottle is scheduled for publication in February 2010.
